Michael Hundt of DeWitt, Michigan Has Earned the Rank of Eagle Scout

Michael Hundt of DeWitt, Michigan has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouting's highest achievement, and was recognized in an Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday, November 18, 2001. The ceremony was held at the Gunnisonville United Methodist Church at the corner of Wood and Clark Roads in DeWitt Township, north of Lansing.

As a member of Boy Scout Troop 77, Michael earned 42 merit badges and completed a service project in order to reach the rank of Eagle. For his Eagle Project, Michael designed and constructed a Prayer Garden at the Gunnisonville United Methodist Church. He obtained donations of material and equipment from several area businesses and coordinated over 270 person hours in planning and construction. A dedication of the Prayer Garden was held on July 29, 2001 with Rev. Nancy Besemer officiating.

During his scouting career, Michael has held many leadership positions within Troop 77 and has served on the Governor's Honor Guard on Mackinac Island for five years, the last two as an Assistant Patrol Leader. Michael continues to be active within Troop 77 and in the Order of the Arrow, for which he holds the position of Troop Representative.

Michael is a junior at DeWitt High School where he is a member of the symphonic band and percussion section leader for the marching band. He is also actively involved at the Gunnisonville United Methodist Church and will hold a seat on the Finance Committee as a youth representative beginning in January.

Michael is the son of David and Kathy (Rhynard) Hundt, grandson of Marvin and Phyllis Rhynard and brother of Sarah Hundt.
